Start Out Fresh Intervention Advocates
S.O.F.I.A.’s goal is to help women and children of Domestic Violence become self-sufficient, positive and successful. Our mission is to provide advocacy, supportive services and temporary housing to “at risk” individuals.
Members of S.O.F.I.A. can apply for relocation to an area outside of their current place of residence. An alliance counselor will help identify the best place for relocation based on the members short and long-term goals.
S.O.F.I.A. counselors will teach career and life skills workshops for members to participate in. A variety of workshops will be available for members to complete with a core set of mandatory courses for those that go through relocation. These workshops include but are not limited to:
- Referrals for Educational Assistance -GED Programs, Trade Schools College Counseling
- Referrals for Recovery from Addictions
- Abuse and Neglect Counseling
- Advocacy Services
- Etiquette Instruction
- Professional Development/Image Consulting
- Life Coaching/Mentorship
- Interviewing Techniques/Job Training
- Placement/Internships and Work Trials
- Counseling and Therapy
- PSP Program – Domestic Violence Prevention Workshops for Teens and Young Adults
